Bible Mindset Learning Journey SubjectErroneous starting pointProper faith-based assumptionAdditional pointsNotes1What is faith?Faith can never be explained on the basis of logical reasoning. It is mystical, irrational.Faith has been proven to be correct beyond any doubt. In all attempts to understand this matter, faith must never contradict the senses and logic. The Patriarch Abraham and his discussions with the people in his generation, through the medium of food 2How can we depend on faith? The question is: Does God exist or not?The basic question is: Does the Creator speak with man and show an interest in him or not?We must emphasize that with our existing mental abilities we have no way to answer the erroneous question! What is a valid question, what is an inaccurate question?3Lost DimensionThe modern world and that of the Bible are the same. We have an advantage since our way of thinking has been improved by the last thousands of years of philosophical analysis – and especially the last two hundred years, when Kant appeared on the scene. We have lost the prophetic dimension. We cannot understand the Bible properly since we are living our lives with a missing dimension. Renew our days as of the “days of old,” in relation to both the past and the future.4“Faithful Declaration” (Rav Saadia Gaon)Since the Tanach is the word of the God of the Universe, who speaks to all mankind, and we are wise enough today because of the philosophy which we have learned, we conclude that everybody is able to interpret the Tanach.Only the nation that Divine speech was meant for (that is, Israel) who can understand the Tanach properly. The task of Israel is to pass on the Tanach to the whole world (that is, the Divine speech, and the Divine ethics).Special emphasis on the continuity of Israelite tradition throughout all the generation, starting from Adam.(Rousseau, S.G)We are very smart, but we still need tradition.5What is the goal of the Torah? The Tanach is a retelling of the past, with messages valid for today. The Tanach is the Word of God, which is being stated today (!), intended for our generation. The goal of the Tanach: An ethical and educational approach with a goal of influencing the entire world, with a Divine message suitable for every generation. The goal of the Torah is to live in the Fifth Dimension
